The International Conferences on Superplasticity in Advanced Materials (ICSAM) have been held triennially since 1982. The interest in the phenomenon of superplasticity has exhibited a steady ascent since 1934 when Pearson first demonstrated its effects. This interest has grown from both fundamental scientific exploration to its industrial applications.
The primary aim of these conferences is to establish an international platform that fosters discussions encompassing a diverse array of subjects related to superplasticity. By doing so, they seek to catalyze further advancements in this field.
The preceding eleven assemblies were successfully hosted in various global locations, including San Diego, Grenoble, Blaine, Osaka, Moscow, Bangalore, Orlando, Oxford, Chengdu, Seattle, and Albi. Over time, the interest and scientific research dedicated to superplasticity have led to the expansion of its scope. It now includes topics such as metals, intermetallic compounds, ceramics, bulk metallic glasses, nanostructured materials, and composites.
In addition to contributing papers highlighting the latest achievements in these advanced materials, the conference endeavors to extend invitations to eminent scientists. These individuals are expected to deliver presentations on topics of current significance within these expansive fields.
